DESCRIPTION OF RECORDED MATERIAL

00:00:00 Recording commences. A road and a number of passing vehicles are visible.

00:00:09 The camera turns towards a residential property on the opposite side of the road. Music can be heard from the direction of the property. The sound of the sea is audible.

00:00:24 The camera operator crosses the road and approaches the front door of the property.

00:00:37 A gloved hand becomes visible and is raised towards the front door. The hand is lowered without making visible contact with the door.

00:00:45 The camera turns towards a window. Four persons are visible inside the property. They are observed dancing, conversing and drinking.

00:01:01 The camera moves away from the window and proceeds along the side of the property.

00:01:14 The camera is lowered as the operator proceeds through a narrow passage containing vegetation. Music remains audible and increases in volume.

00:01:29 A paved area at the rear of the property becomes visible through vegetation.

A female, subsequently identified as Natasha Acker, is seated on a step by the rear door. She appears to be wet. She is holding a cigarette and a drinking glass.

00:01:46 Natasha Acker remains seated, looking towards the far end of the garden, outside the recorded area.

00:01:54 A male, subsequently identified as Christian Harrison, comes out of the property and sits beside Natasha Acker. He is carrying a towel.

00:02:02 Christian places the towel around himself and Natasha Acker.

00:02:17 The following conversation is audible. Music is audible throughout.

CHRISTIAN HARRISON: “UCAS did get back to me.”

NATASHA ACKER: “You didn’t tell me.”

CHRISTIAN HARRISON: “I didn’t want to ruin your night.”

NATASHA ACKER: “And then you got pissed.”

00:02:35 No speech is audible for several seconds.

CHRISTIAN HARRISON: “You wanna see me?”

NATASHA ACKER: “I know. What? Yes.”

00:02:47 Further conversation is audible but cannot be clearly distinguished.

00:02:54 The camera moves away from the rear garden and proceeds back along the side of the property.

00:03:14 The camera reaches the road. A vehicle passes.

00:03:19 The camera operator crosses the road.

00:03:28 The camera is lowered towards vegetation at the side of the road. Gloved hands become visible and remove a Sainsbury’s plastic carrier bag from the vegetation.

00:03:38 The carrier bag is placed on the ground and opened. The contents cannot be clearly seen in the available light.

00:03:50 A gloved hand removes an object from the carrier bag. The object appears to be a kitchen knife.

00:03:59 The carrier bag is returned to the vegetation.

00:04:10 The camera turns towards the property.

00:04:17 The camera operator crosses the road and approaches the front door.

00:04:31 A gloved hand is raised towards the front door. The camera shakes.

00:04:42 Excerpt ends.

WITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER

Concerning events on Wednesday 18 June 2025

This was the summer of 2025, when I first met X. A year before. It was myself, Spencer, Christian, Georgie, Drakey and Jammy in the Kingston Wetherspoons on Clarence Street in Kingston. I had just finished A-Levels and Jammy was doing the open-mic with his band. I remember it as a Friday.

Lyrics here, Tash! Sing! Sing!

Longing for Lenin

by Mr Jones

Someday, conscience takes a part of me,

Drifting further every day. Who are you?

Tonight, I just don’t wanna think anymore, she needs a release,

And so much more, so much more.

What are you waiting for?

There’s a wolf at your door.

Why can’t your lips let go of me?

And some things won’t ever change.

One day, you’ll look back at me,

And it will be more serene.

WITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER CONTINUED

Concerning events on Wednesday 18 June 2025

It was after the performance. We’d been dancing. We were at the middle table by the booths on the ground floor. Drakey was going on about how Wetherspoons has a monopoly on young alcoholics, and Georgie and Spencer were having a conversation in Spencer’s notebook. I wasn’t that drunk; maybe only six or seven pints. When Spencer and Georgie got up to go to the bar together, Spencer saw X. I turned a few seconds later and saw him, too. My first impression of him was that he looked a bit intense, and that he had a hood with a big fluffy — erm — rim, or lip. Spencer was looking at him as if he knew him. I asked Spencer who he was, and Spencer didn’t reply in his notebook. Then X came and sat with us. He introduced himself, and he seemed quite normal, but he didn’t talk much after that until we got kicked out.

TRANSCRIPTION

My birth name is Spencer Harry Edwards. I do not like ‘Spence.’

I have blue eyes; big, blue eyes, which my mother tells me are my best asset. I used to have very long hair but I gave up on all of that mucking around. I think it gave me an off-putting aura and also dealing with it was hard work, ergo I now buzz it all down to the scalp. Simplest option. I am thin, with a three-inch penis when flaccid, give or take. I have Mutism, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Pure Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, Major Depressive Disorder, and hypochondria — or, as it’s called clinically, Somatic Symptom Disorder. I was also born four months premature. Some of these aren’t officially diagnosed.

I’ve never kissed a girl, or talked to one, but I haven’t talked to a boy either. I’m sitting in my room right now, on a Tuesday afternoon after school.

My walls are blue. I have posters of a map of the human brain, the solar system, and a cross-section of the River Coln in Gloucester, which I liked to visit with my parents as a kid. I have a piano, which I can play very well, being Grade Seven at this time.

I have won badges for Junior Road Safety Officer, the Outstanding Attendance Award for Year Eight, and Duke of Edinburgh, Silver. I take A Levels in English Literature, Maths, Geography, and Further Maths. I plan to get into university, to study Palaeontology. My choices are: (in order)

1. University of Oxford (A*AA – AAA)

2. University of Bristol (AAC – AAB)

3. University of Portsmouth (BBC – ABB)

4. University of Leicester (BBB – ABB)

5. University of Birmingham (N/A)

I’ve wanted to study Palaeontology ever since watching Ross on F.R.I.E.N.D.S with my mum.

I do not watch porn and I do not masturbate. When I get the sexual urge I think of a clip I saw on telly as a kid; I don’t know the program, but it’s a small man trying to walk into a big rubber top hat with a window and doors on the side. The image stuck with me. I think of that and count down and that seems to do the trick. There’s nothing sexual about it, after all.

To: you

Mum,

I am sorry you feel lonely and trapped; although you blame Dad, I would like to apologise if it has anything to do with me. Today at school I was able to complete a team assignment with the help of sign language. It has come on recently, and I do feel like I can communicate more effectively now, by using it regularly, even if it makes me a tad uncomfortable; I think it’s an issue of clarity, but I’m working on this. Promises, promises.

There’s a boy I was sat next to in Geography and we play practical jokes on each other and laugh together a lot. (At the teacher, although he’s the ghastly one you met last parents’ evening; thanks for the chips after too, I never said.) So, progress in that arena, too.

I am also considering getting a job maybe writing articles for an online magazine, about video games and such things. You know I used to be rather fond of them. I will consider splitting my earnings with you to help the house run more smoothly.

In regards to you saying I am cold, you know I have difficulties expressing my emotions.

I’m glad we can talk on here, because it makes it much easier for me to express my feelings without the, shall we say, face-to-face element.

I am trying to consider what you do for me as much as I can; I understand it must depress and get you down sometimes, and I understand that sometimes that is my fault. Re: your computer, it was a storage problem as I thought — your desktop may LOOK clean, but the stuff you import for work leaves files in the Finder, even if you can’t see them immediately. I honestly thought that solving this storage problem would make your life and work a little easier, and maybe cheer you up, and I apologise if that was not a clear enough sign that I care. I will try to give clearer signs in future.

I have an idea for an anniversary present, even if you said that you didn’t want one. People say that a lot and I have found that they don’t say what they mean, especially in regards to gifts, because obviously we must appear humble in terms of how the world perceives us, even if we give way to selfish urges, which I believe is helpful some of the time, definitely, so don’t beat yourself up any more than you do about that.

Also, I want to address the more emotive side of your email now.

The idea that you ‘deserve’ this life, or a job that you hate, disturbs me greatly as your son. Sentimentally and idealistically, it is not a healthy or useful idea, and I would advise you to delete it. Nobody ‘deserves.’ And also, you have the power to change your life and your world, rather than your life and your world having the power to CONTROL you.

I will help you find a new job, if I can, because admin is definitely beneath a woman of your intellectual and social calibre. You are intelligent, thoughtful, and kind. I was thinking maybe you could go into care, since you have a lot of experience in that department. 😉

(Please tell me if use of smiley inappropriate.)

Together, I am sure we can fix these issues, if we only coalesce. I love you for all the things you do for me and who you are in general, I promise.

Don’t despair. Despair is for people who know beyond any doubt that the end will be bad, and no one in the world knows that, even if you are, in your own words, “agnostic.”

Your son,

Spencer.

I hope you consider my points.

HANDWRITTEN LETTER — SPENCER EDWARDS TO “X”

Document: Spencer’s Letters to X

Letter: No. 5

Author: Spencer Edwards

Addressee: “X”

Date: 1 December 2024

Medium: Handwritten letter

TRANSCRIPTION

Dear X,

I quite like this little system we’ve developed here. It’s almost like a conversation. Probably the closest I’ll ever get, anyway! I considered the points you brought up at school earlier, as per. Here are my thoughts. (Although I might type these out in future, handwritten letters of this length are not easy to pull off. How did all those world leaders and artists do it?)

First off, sorry about Mr Carmona.

He’s uptight in the way that all language teachers are; or maybe in the way that everyone who doesn’t speak English as a first language seems. Your plan was quite good, too, and quite well considered, though I understand that he can’t risk his livelihood for the sake of bumping up a grade.

It’s unsurprising to me that your appeals to logic didn’t work, because logic is grossly undervalued in our society as a whole — bunch of bleeding-heart romantics.

It’ll come as no surprise, then, that what shocked me more was that your appeal to emotion also fell on deaf ears! What a robot! Ugh, it makes me quite cross. He knows that your situation at home isn’t easy and he knows about your sister. I can see why you wouldn’t give up your job to bump up a student’s grade, but to make a student’s day? To cheer them up when their family is in such a bleak place? The idea that any institution should come before that is shocking to say the least.

I’ve got an idea for something that might cheer you up, and I’ll show you tomorrow with this, if I can get it all done tonight and my homework. (Quite frankly, I feel this is more important!)

You talked a lot about institutions in our conversation, I noticed; you kept circling round to the concept, but I don’t think you used the word ‘institution.’ Your talk of ‘collecting pre-paid packages for your life’ and ‘needing at least three to be normal’ struck me as a discussion of the institutional, really. We need to be a member of at least three institutions — be that religion, education, employment, marriage, psychiatric care — to be seen as a respectful member of society, which I think is extremely reductive.

When you first got out of Mr Carmona’s office, you asked me ‘What’s wrong with this place?’ You said, ‘No one thinks about anybody else.’

Which leads me to address your big question. The Thing. We need a name for it, so I think we should call it The Dark Knight thing, since that’s where you got the idea, that way no one will know what we mean.

I think, conceptually, that I agree with you. I agree that we need to do something big to achieve that goal. I’m on board with some of the practicalities. I think between the two of us we could work it out and pull it off with pretty good results. What I’m more nervous about, however, is how you want to go about it.

You swore me to secrecy, of course, and I won’t tell a soul — no one else would have an open enough mind*. We want to send a message, as far as I can tell, what we don’t want to do is ruin our lives. But I’ll give it some more thought. I think we could compromise and find a happy middle ground. I think studying past attempts would be no bad thing, so we could identify flaws and such.

*I expand on this so read on!

To some it may seem ghoulish to consider these ideas, yes. To some it may even be unforgivable. But I think, at least now, writing this letter right here, after that inspiring conversation today, I’ve made my peace with that. I think you and I are built to understand some things that others may not want to touch. I think we’ve let go of a lot of pre-conceived ideas and I think we’re happier for it.

I think, honestly, as ridiculous as this sounds, that we are the future, because we’re trying to innovate, to come up with new ideas about how the world could work, and what people could be. I think we’re the type of person you’d want on the last Ark to leave Planet Earth, so to speak, like that film we watched, 2012.

I may sound full of myself, but think about it. These communications we have. Art, politics, philosophy, theology. It’s rather amazing. You should keep these letters and we should collect them up; unfortunately we have no way of recording your bits, but I’m sure people would agree that you filled in my gaps brilliantly(!) *sarcasm*

I don’t think many people do what we do.

Be happy,

Spencer

WITNESS STATEMENT OF GARRY HARADINE

Concerning events in December 2024

No one really knew Spencer and X in school, but we all knew they were friends. We did think they were weird. They were very aggressive to me and my friends in school. Once they told us to hang ourselves. We did shove them around a bit. I’m not proud of it. But they gave as good as they got. I remember once on the 12 or 13 December, I can’t remember, we were bustling Spencer around in the playground, on the tarmac, and X ran up to us and broke it up. I think that’s the first time I realised they were friends. X was a lot stronger, so we left them alone. I’m not proud of it. This was before what happened on Latchmere Recreation Ground.

WITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER CONTINUED

Concerning events on Wednesday 18 June 2025

I didn’t know that Spencer knew X from school at this point. They stood together while the rest of us took ketamine. X said very little, but I got the impression that he was uncomfortable. When the bar staff caught us taking the ketamine, we ran out of the access door and away down the smoking alley. He followed us. We went to the park where we continued to drink and take ketamine. Christian was recording us on his DV kinda camera. We were dancing. X did not join in and stood with Spencer. When Spencer offered him some ketamine, he took it. He also smoked some of Drakey’s weed. Then he danced with us.

At some point in the night, Drakey says that X told him it was the best night of his life. Drakey found this very funny, but I remember at the time I thought it was strange.

Later he asked me how much weed £200 would buy him, and said he was morally opposed to drugs.

DESCRIPTION

The exhibited file is a digital composite image depicting seven persons, subsequently identified as “X”, Natasha Acker, Georgina Kikelomo, Drake Figueroa, Christian Harrison, James Hinton and Spencer Edwards.

The seven persons are depicted together against a common photographic background, giving the appearance of having been present together when the image was taken.

The individual depictions of Natasha Acker, Georgina Kikelomo, Drake Figueroa, Christian Harrison, James Hinton and Spencer Edwards have been separately extracted from other photographs and superimposed onto the background.

The depiction of “X” forms part of the original background image and has not been separately superimposed.

The positioning and relative scale of the individual figures have been adjusted so that the seven persons appear to form a single group.

The exhibited image does not depict an occasion on which all seven persons were photographed together.

WITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER

Concerning events on 12 July 2025

We hung out with X a few times after that night at the Wetherspoons. He was polite and quiet. He smoked weed and drank alcohol with us.

On the 12th July, we were in Stokes Field, Long Ditton. X arrived with a massive bag of weed that he had purchased. Drakey had given him the number for the dealer. Everyone cheered and clapped, but Spencer looked uncomfortable. I do not think that anybody else noticed, except me and Christian. I did not, at this time, know why he was uncomfortable with X’s presence around us.

EXHIBIT 11

WITNESS STATEMENT OF GARRY HARADINE

Concerning events on 12 January 2025

We’d just gone back to school after Christmas, and I was walking home through Latchmere Recreation Ground with Paul, Vinesh and Connor. We saw X and Spencer sitting on the back of a bench and didn’t think anything of it. I think Vinesh called out to them and they didn’t react that I could see. There was a black duffel bag between their feet on the bench. We carried on walking through the park, and when we turned back we saw X and Spencer approaching us. They were both wearing black balaclavas. We thought this was funny and laughed and called them gay. That is when I saw that Spencer had a kitchen knife, and X had a hammer. We all thought it was pretty funny. I did not feel that we were in any danger, although I was tense. X said something to Spencer like “give it to them.” Spencer stood there holding the knife. We kept laughing and teasing them, but I thought that we were all quite nervous. After a while, Spencer dropped the knife and ran away. X followed him. Neither of them could run very well. I told my parents when I got home, and they made me call the police. But I do not think that anything really came of it. When we saw them in school the next day, they did not act out of the ordinary. We teased them about it, and said that they would go to prison. They seemed embarrassed and ashamed. It was Spencer’s birthday, and Vinesh gave him eighteen birthday beats, leaving a green bruise on Spencer’s arm. I avoided them after that, and I don’t think we ever spoke again, but I remember hearing about X’s mum on the news.

Woman found dead at Bramley Grove home as police search for missing son

Three-year-old girl found alone inside property after neighbour raised alarm

By Jolian West, Local Democracy Reporter

26 July 2025

Police have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead inside her home at 112 Bramley Grove, where her three-year-old daughter had apparently been left alone for several days.

Officers attended the address on Friday, 25 July, after a neighbour became concerned about a strong smell coming from the property.

The body of X’s mother was subsequently discovered inside the house. Police said she had suffered serious injuries to the head.

Her three-year-old daughter, X’s sister, was found alive inside the property and was taken into the care of emergency services.

The woman’s son, X, could not be located at the address and police were on Saturday attempting to establish his whereabouts.

Neighbour Martin Ellison, 54, said he had heard shouting coming from the property on the evening of Monday, 21 July, four days before the discovery was made.

“I heard raised voices that night,” he said. “It went on for a bit and then everything went quiet. I didn’t think much of it at the time. You hear arguments from houses now and again.”

Police have not confirmed how long X’s mother had been dead before her body was discovered.

Detective Inspector Helen Ward, of Surrey Police, said: “A woman was found deceased inside the property. She had sustained significant injuries and her death is being treated as suspicious.

“A three-year-old girl was also located inside the address. She was assessed by paramedics and has been placed in appropriate care.

“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and to locate her son, X, whose whereabouts are presently unknown.”

Police have appealed for anyone who saw or heard anything unusual in the vicinity of Bramley Grove on the evening of 21 July, or who has information concerning X’s whereabouts, to contact officers.

I sat alone for a long while, and when it became dark I got up to leave because I was paranoid. X approached me and I became very scared, but he was very casual. He talked about how he was out of weed so I gave him a spliff. We didn’t discuss his mother or the investigation at all. He said August was his favourite month of the year. I think we also talked about Netflix shows. Eventually I left. He didn’t make any attempt to harm me. When I got home, I told my mum, and she phoned the police.

DESCRIPTION OF IMAGE

The exhibited Instagram post contains a two-panel illustrated meme.

The upper portion depicts a crying “Wojak”-style character wearing a police officer’s hat. Text accompanying the character reads:

“We are workers too! Have solidarity!”

The lower portion depicts a “Chad”-style “Wojak” character with blue undercut hair, a pierced ear and a red raised-fist symbol on the neck.

Text accompanying the second character reads:

“Cops are not workers. unlike a worker a cop breaking up a strike is not producing value for the capitalist class. Cops are enforcing the structures of labour production themself. This is, in itself, a vastly different relationship of production than that of workers. They are not unrelated, but the labour of the state is the labour which serves to enforce the relations of production which produce class systems.”

EYEWITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER

Concerning events on 22 August and 23 August 2026

The 23rd of August was my twentieth birthday, and my mum rented us a house in Hastings for the night. She drove me, Christian, Spencer, Georgie, Jammy and Drakey down there and left us for the night. We took drugs and drank alcohol. We had all grown distant since Georgie’s Instagram post, which a lot of us objected to. Me and Christian were also distant; I didn’t know he had been accepted into university.

We went out skinny dipping at around 3:00am on the 23rd. We were all on ketamine and cocaine, and had been smoking weed. Drakey said he saw X, but no one else did. We all ran screaming back into the house.

Me and Christian had a conversation in the back garden. He said he was going to university. I told him I was starting on my first novel, and I thought this might be a good scene to use in it. He laughed. He gave me a speech about friendships never leaving us, but I think it was from Doctor Who. We hugged. I felt nothing bad towards him.

I couldn’t sleep because there was a party happening next door. I got up around four in the morning, and I went downstairs to have a word. I told him to turn the music down, because I assumed he was one of the partying kids. He gave me a thumbs up. When I went back inside, I heard him open the door. I only called the police when I heard screaming.

I was upstairs taking cocaine with Jammy. When we heard the screaming downstairs we locked the door. I recall hearing X’s voice say: “You’re alright. You’re going to be okay. I’ll look after you.” But it wasn’t in a nice way. I thought it was said in a weird way. We were very drunk and confused. We stayed in that room until the sun was starting to rise, and then we went out.

There was blood on the floor, but I didn’t see any bodies. I didn’t go downstairs into the kitchen. I went into the upstairs sitting room. I found X sitting in the corner with blood coming from his side. I couldn’t see the wound because it was under his jacket. I could only see the blood.

I sat on the sofa opposite him and asked him what he was doing.

To the best of my memory, he replied: “Oh, you know. Just killing people.”

He died shortly after that. Sorry.

WITNESS STATEMENT

Statement of: Detective Constable Craig Jennings
Date of Statement: 2 December 2026
Reference: SP/26/084731

I am Detective Constable Craig Jennings, a police officer serving with Surrey Police. I make this statement in relation to my contact with Natasha Acker and her viewing of video material published on YouTube by a person known as “X”.

On 2 December 2026, at approximately 14:35, I was present at Guildford Police Station when Natasha Acker attended for the purpose of viewing video material identified during the course of the investigation.

I used a police computer to access a YouTube video entitled “happenings”, published on 21 August 2026 by an account associated with the person known as “X”.

Acker was seated facing the computer monitor. I commenced playback of the video in her presence.

During the relevant portion of the recording, I heard X say words to the following effect:

“You want to know why I did what I did?”

At a later point, I heard X say:

“Good luck, pussies.”

Immediately following these words, Acker paused the video. She remained looking at the computer monitor for several seconds and then said:

“He was so fucking cringe.”

I made a contemporaneous note of those words.

Acker subsequently continued viewing the recording.

I produce no opinion in this statement as to the meaning or significance of Acker’s remark. The words attributed to her above are recorded as spoken in my presence.

EYEWITNESS STATEMENT OF NATASHA ACKER

Concerning events on 2 December 2026

I was led out of the office and into the waiting room. I tripped on the way, because I was wearing heels. I don’t know why. I heard Spencer call my name and saw him. This was the first time I’d seen him since the events of the 23rd of August 2026, and the first time since I found out about the Latchmere incident during the investigation. I felt angry but also sad, and maybe betrayed. I also felt other ways, but I don’t know how I was feeling.

I hugged him.

00:00:49 Spencer Edwards is standing at a bus stop. He looks at the electronic timetable and then towards the camera. He says, “Eleven minutes.” The camera is directed towards the road for the remainder of the recording.

00:01:24 Interior domestic recording. Drake Figueroa is lying on a sofa with his feet resting on James Hinton. Hinton moves Figueroa’s feet away. Figueroa replaces them. This occurs three times.

00:01:43 Christian Harrison is seated on the floor connecting a games console to a television. Spencer Edwards is heard telling him that he has connected the wrong cable. Harrison replies, “I know.” Approximately ten seconds later, Edwards points towards another cable. Harrison disconnects the first cable.

00:02:08 Exterior recording in a residential street. Natasha Acker walks ahead of the camera carrying a plastic shopping bag. She turns and asks why she is being recorded. The person operating the camera does not answer. Acker raises her middle finger towards the camera and continues walking.

00:02:43 James Hinton and Spencer Edwards are seated on a staircase. Neither speaks for approximately eight seconds. Hinton asks what time it is. Edwards checks his telephone and replies, “Twenty past.” No further conversation is audible.

00:04:18 Christian Harrison passes the camera to Spencer Edwards. The image points towards the floor while the camera changes hands. Edwards then records Harrison attempting to open a jar. Harrison is unable to do so and passes it to Natasha Acker. Acker opens it and returns it to him.

00:04:39 Daytime recording from inside a stationary car. James Hinton and Drake Figueroa are visible through the windscreen beside a parking meter. They appear to discuss the meter. Hinton presses several buttons. Both walk back towards the vehicle.

00:04:58 Interior recording. Spencer Edwards is asleep in an armchair. The camera remains directed towards him for approximately twelve seconds. Edwards wakes, notices the camera and says, “Why are you filming me?” The person operating the camera laughs.

Christian Harrison, Natasha Acker, Georgina Kikelomo, Drake Figueroa, James Hinton and Spencer Edwards are intermittently visible within the kitchen and adjoining room. No single conversation is clearly audible. Acker opens a cupboard and removes a glass. Figueroa walks through carrying a plate. Kikelomo is seated at the table using her telephone. Edwards opens the refrigerator and remains looking inside it for several seconds. Hinton asks somebody outside the camera’s view whether they are leaving. Christian Harrison approaches the camera.

00:05:38 Harrison picks up the camera. The image becomes unsteady and is briefly directed towards the kitchen floor. The recording ends.
