Two Poems by Guy Cramer

Insomnia

I fall asleep with the TV on
and dream I’m on TV where
I’m falling asleep with the
TV on where I’m dreaming
I’m on TV where I’m falling asleep
with the TV on when my father
gets up from his chair
blocks the phosphorescent glow
to adjust the reception until static

Holiday

your wish comes true Opposite Day’s
an official holiday starting at 2 a.m.
we take down decorations  give back
socks and underwear  the show you
put on sober ends at the top of the stairs
bones crazy-glued back together  our
neighbor doesn’t call the cops or the
landlord  backmasked KISS reveals
Satan is a fluffy kitten  our flightless
bird escapes the dog’s mouth minus grill
marks  I pull enough coins from behind
everyone’s ears we can both quit our jobs
